A beautiful small island in the Visayas with white sandy beaches and palmtrees and cristal clear water. Years ago a secret destination for backpackers, Boracay developed to one of the favourite destinations in Southeast Asia. The guest finds good infrastructure: cozy bars and excellent restaurants and 2 openairdiscos directly on the beach offer an exciting nightlife.Prices for dining are a bargain and you can get a beer for 50 Cents. There is even an 18 hole golfcourse on the island.

Accomodation you can find in all pricecategories Uand nevertheless it's not too difficult to find a lonely bay or a quiet beach for yourself. The beach of Boracay is one of the best beaches in the world. The beachs is white and wide and shaloow water invites even kids for swimming. Take off your shoes and after some hours, you ll have forgotten that those exist.

The long trip from Europe is definitely worth it- first you fly into Manila and then you continue travelling with one of the local airlines to Panay, Boracay neighboring island, from where it's only a 15 minute boatride to Boracay.

Good to know: Boracay is getting more and more popular, this is why there is construction everywhere at the moment.

Entry:

Germans, Austrian and Swiss tourists with a valid passport (still valid for another 6 monthes) can stay up to 21 days for free in the Philippines. If you want to stay longer you can extend your visa with the Office of Immigration on Boracay for another month.

Please realize, that there is an airporttax of 550 PHP for the internatiobal airport in Manila, which you have to pay before departing. Airporttax is payable in cash money in PHP!



Injections:

If you are not travelling through infected areas before, there are no regulations for injections. We recommend Typhus, Paratyphus and Tetanus.

Clothes:

Because of the tropical climate leisure and swimming waer is suitable. Hotels are sometime very cold because of the aircons.

Electricity:

220 Volt, 60 Hz.- normally you need an adapter, which you can buy everywhere in the supermarkets on the island

Language:

Tagalog and Visayan
English is the common language on Boracay

Tip:

In some restaurants tip is added on the bill already- in that case don't give tip anymore. In generaal don't give too much tip, as the monthly average salary is 100 Euro.

Currency / Cash Money Info:

Currency of the Philippines is the Philippine Peso. It's recommended to take cash money Euros or Swiss Francs.There are ATMs everywhere on the island, where you can use Ec and all common credit cards. If you paying by creditcard, shops ask for an additional fee for the payment.
